Weekend Winding Road

This weekend for me was one of great soul food. Saturday was spent chilled by the beach in good company amongst a great atmosphere, something that always reenergises me, followed by dinner at a Latin American restaurant with live music that transported us right to the heart, soul, energy and sounds of south America. Later we befriended these Italian and Serbian best mates who provided us with endless laughs and interesting conversations in between grooving on the dance floor, surrounded by an ocean of young beauty, feeling our age but without a care.

Sunday was a day of promised self-indulgence, the day purposely unplanned, but the purpose was to feed our spirit, to do whatever we wished. Starting off with a late breakfast at our favourite local frenchy cafe, we followed with down-time at home listening to music while imagining an impromptu road trip down Great Ocean Road towards the magnificent Lorne. Decided, we excitedly travelled with music in our hearts and soul, selecting music tracks that reflected our journey, our inspired minds, our own visions of the future. As we crossed over to a magical place, the winding roads up the hillside moved us so, surrounded by all the trees, caught up in the music and breathing in the fresh air, we wore smiles as wide as the horizon, anticipating the overwhelming beauty of the ocean, when reaching the point to view it in all it’s glory. It didn’t disappoint. The spirited waves soothed our being, the fine sand soft and light as silk. We ate fish and chips and chocolate on the beach and wrote in our journal of life, holding onto this moment forevermore.

Nature, music, culture, friendship, laughter, dancing, sun and travel.. all in one weekend..

To be so blessed by the universe, I am thankful!
